Get ready to walk, bike, and work out on Park Avenue on the next three Saturdays in August (8th, 15th, 22nd), because from 7am – 1pm, Park Avenue and other NYC streets will be CAR-FREE!

More than 50,000 people will take over the streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park along Lafayette Street, 4 Avenue, Park Avenue and 72 Street. It’s all part of NYC’s greening initiative to encourage New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation.

You can take a bicycle ride or get out the rollerblades from Brooklyn all the way up to 72nd Street at Park Ave and never have to worry about cars or red lights (except for a few places, next paragraph). Along the way, you’ll find some fabulous rest stops with all sorts of activities like free bike rental, free skate rental and repair, bicycle helmet fittings, a photo booth, free tennis lessons, music, the New York Post reading room, and a coffee shop. Here is a list of all the Rest Stops and the Activities

If you’re driving, you will still be able to cross Park Ave at Read more…
