Whitestone Bridge

The Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, known as the ‘Whitestone Bridge’, carries I-678 between the Ferry Point section of the Bronx and Whitestone, Queens. The bridge was completed on April 29, 1939, for a cost of $19.7 million. The original toll was $.25.

 

 

Some key facts about the Whitestone Bridge:

  • Main span: 2,300 feet
  • Total length: 7.140 feet
  • Has two 377-foot-steel towers
  • 6 Lanes

The bridge carries about 110,000 vehicles every day. The Throgs Neck Bridge is just to the East of the Whitestone Bridge. The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) manages the Whitestone Bridge.

$7.50 Cash or without EZ Pass NY

$5.33 with EZ Pass NY

If you have EZ Pass NJ, you can use the EZ Pass lanes but you will pay the Cash Toll Rate of $7.50.

NYC DRIVING DIRECTIONS FOR THE WHITESTONE BRIDGE

From the Bronx: enter from the Hutchinson River Parkway S, Cross Bronx Expressway, or Bruckner Expressway (278).

From Queens: enter from the Whitestone Expressway. The Cross Island Parkway meets up with the Whitestone Expressway 1/2 mile before the bridge.

Entering the Bronx: the bridge leads directly into the Bruckner Interchange (which is the northern end of I-678) and then gives you access to the Hutchinson River Parkway N, Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95), or Bruckner Expressway (I-278 & I-95)), and the Cross Bronx Expressway extension (I-295).

Entering Queens: you can access the Whitestone Expressway and then the Cross Island Parkway.
